Vintage wooden needle holder

$39.64

Shipping to United States: $5.55

A handmade cigar shaped Mauchline case from Hereford. It was designed to hold needles, bodkins and crochet (pins) hooks.

The case dates to circa 1880s and is a Scottish made Victorian tourist souvenir by the firm of Smith in Mauchline (Mocklin), Ayreshire.

The images are of Castle Green and the cathedral in Hereford.

The two part cylinder is beautifully hand turned, it has one flat end which allows it to stand and a small domed at the other end.

Inside there is one large circular hollow surrounded by 6 smaller hollows. The two parts fit snugly together and come apart easily with a gentle pull and twist.

There are some needles inside, but I don't know if these are original.

Measures: 10.5.cm long x 2cm wide.

All of my items are vintage and therefore you may find some signs of ageing, if this is the case I have tried to show this in the pictures and the write up.

If you are buying from outside the UK you will be responsible for any additional customs tax or VAT.
