Essex MK1 miniature/toy chain stitch sewing machine in dark red.
it was launched in 1946 as a response to the desperate lack of sewing machines available in post-war Britain and remained in production until 1956.
They were superbly made and nearly all of those that still survive are in good working order. With a green leather carry case, extension table, clamp, original instruction manual and spare needles (in an original packet)
Excellent working condition, for its age it has very little signs of use although there is some minor wear and scratch marks, all metal work is bright and shiny.
The sewing machine base is 22.5cm wide and 15.8cm deep. The highest point on the Essex is 19cm tall. The machine on its stand weighs just under 1.5kg.
The Essex Miniature toy Sewing Machines were manufactured between 1946 and 1956 by the Essex Engineering Works, London,
All my items are vintage and therefore there may be some signs a age, I will always try to highlight any obvious issues.
